Your Daily Workout...Outside the Gym
Exercising doesn’t only mean going to the gym! You can carry on with your daily routines and get in your daily workout, all at the same time. You just need to know how to incorporate both in your lifestyle.
Here are a couple of exercises that you can do throughout your day in order to get fit this summer.
Walking: This is the most basic type of exercise you can do. Walk to work. Walk during your lunch break. Heck, walk inside the office. Walking can be done almost anywhere and you can burn more than 100 calories doing it (fast walking) for 30 minutes. Our advice: head to Manara, at the end of the day, to enjoy a good walk, the cool breeze, as well as the beautiful sunset.
Taking the Stairs: It can be difficult to take the stairs sometimes, when the elevator is right there in front of you. Just make sure to remind yourself of your end goal and of your desire to become fit. Going up the stairs for 10 minutes can help you burn around 100 calories.
Chores: Kill two birds with one stone! Finish your chores and get a good workout in as well! Simple things like washing the dishes, cooking, and even taking care of your kids will help you in burning those calories.
Roughhousing/ Playing with the Kids: This is also another type of exercise, especially if your kids are very energetic and physical. Doing your daily workout should not come at the expense of spending quality time with your kids, and this way you can do both!
At Home Workouts: In this time of information overload, some information can actually be beneficial. Download an application or open a Youtube video and check out a home workout you can follow. The beauty of these workouts is that you can do them in the comfort of your own home. Some workouts are even specific to moms with toddlers; you can workout with your toddler and make a bonding experience out of it too.
Cycling: It might be too hot now to do this one, but it is still an option for a nice warm day. Cycling to your destinations, or just cycling in general, can help you burn between 400 and 600 calories, depending on your speed, incline, and weight.
Swimming: Tis’ the season to swim! Get in your swimming suit and head to the beach for some laps. The best thing about this workout is that you can make a trip out of it. Whether you are taking your family with you or going solo, swimming at the beach is a fun way to get in your daily exercising regimen. Freestyle swimming can burn up to 500 calories an hour.
Just take care of your health and... keep moving!
