How to Stay Healthy This Summer

July 20, 2017

It’s summer time! The sun is out, the water is clear, and it’s time to enjoy the season to the fullest. That is why, you don’t want to get sick in a time like this. We will help you avoid that with a couple of suggestions that you can use to stay healthy this summer.

Hydration is key. Keep your body hydrated by drinking lots of water and liquids or even by eating fruits and vegetables that are full of water (like watermelons and cucumbers). The extreme heat can take a toll on your body, especially if it is not properly hydrated. If you happen to be like one of the many I know who forget to drink water, keep a bottle of water next to you at all times. This way you will unconsciously feel tempted to drink, even if you are not that thirsty.

Applying sunscreen is also one of the important things that you should do this season. Many of us wait for this season just to get that golden tan we’ve been waiting for all winter long. However, be careful not endanger your skin while doing it! Excessive exposure to the sun can do you more harm than good, so make sure to actually use that SPF that you bought from the pharmacy.

Even in your daily routine, make sure to apply sunscreen as you head outdoors, especially when the temperature reaches those high degrees.

Sunglasses are essential to protect your eyes from the rays of the sun. Don’t risk damaging your eyesight and buy a good pair of sunglasses that can keep your eyes well-shielded.

This next tip is one that could be used all year long: exercising. To name a few of its benefits, exercising is important for your blood circulation, for your muscles, and for your sleep regulation. Whether it is by walking, surfing, or by taking a swim at the beach, have fun while you exercise this summer. It will make it all the more worthwhile!

Another tip that you can use to stay healthy in a time like this is wearing hats.Hats can protect you from heat strokes, especially when the sun rays become just unbearable. Use this season to try out your hat collection. Mix and match from caps to straw hats and cloth headbands and discover which style suits you the most!

This last suggestion can be one of the most important in my opinion: eat fresh food and be careful of food poisoning. With the extreme heat, many of the foods can go bad fast. Make sure that what you are eating is fresh and recent and try to avoid eating out so much, unless you trust that the food in that place is good enough to eat.
